At Legacy Dance South, we’re proud to offer Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Tap, Musical Theatre and Legacy Groovers (Preschool dance classes) from our central Richmond studio, as well as in Hope and Upper Moutere. With an incredible team of experienced, passionate teachers and coaches, we’re here to guide every dancer—whether it’s their first step into a studio or they’re working toward elite performance goals.

Each year, our dancers take the stage in our spectacular end-of-year Showcase, alongside a mid year show, Ribbon award week and additional opportunities to perform at community events. These experiences help build confidence, teamwork, discipline, and lifelong memories.

Our structure at Legacy South:

The Company: Our elite competitive dancer and teams will train and perform with a focus on national and international-level competitions and performance opportunities. Dancers in the Company will represent the studio at the highest level and have the opportunity to collaborate with industry professional choreographers on innovative, high-quality routines.

Recreational classes- Our Weekly Classes are an exciting space for budding dancers and creative minds to grow, explore, and shine. Here, dancers can try a variety of styles, collaborate with others, and connect with like-minded peers in an inspiring studio environment. Each class blends strong technique, performance skills, and creative expression, giving dancers a solid foundation while keeping things fun, supportive, and engaging. Whether they’re discovering a new passion or building on existing skills, our Weekly Classes offer a vibrant, enjoyable pathway for every dancer to feel confident and flourish.

Legacy Groovers - 18month - 5yr old program
Our Legacy Groovers preschool programme is all about sparking joy, confidence, and creativity in our tiniest dancers. We offer a gorgeous 18 months–3 years Parent & Dancer class, where little ones explore movement, rhythm, and coordination in a fun, supportive environment with their grown-up right beside them.

For our independent dancers aged 3–5 years, we offer specialised classes in Ballet, Hip Hop, and Jazz/Acro, blending imagination with foundational technique. These classes are designed to nurture confidence, musicality, balance, and body awareness while keeping things playful, exciting, and age-appropriate. Our preschool dancers build beautiful friendships, develop key motor skills, and fall in love with dance from their very first steps.
